Turn on that video camera, make eye contact, get the lighting and background right and learn to elevate your virtual presence – just as you would dress appropriately for an in-person meeting – neatly pressed business jacket and a well-planned space for the meeting. You don’t show-up to an in-person meeting wearing a wrinkled shirt, so don’t ignore your lighting, camera position, and background in the virtual world.
Know their expectations – you have 5 to 7 seconds to make an impression – to establish your credibility, expertise, and make a connection.
Get ready for the change – camera on, great lighting, background, and virtual presence will be just as important as being professionally dressed – business jacket, tie, etc...
You wouldn’t hold a meeting with a client/potential client in a cluttered office or leave the lights turned-off!
✨Virtual meetings, video conferences, and live events are here to stay.
Most professionals agree with the importance of turning on your camera during video conference meetings – in fact, 81% of managers think it’s a major factor in the future of work, and 70% of professionals think more trust is built between them and their clients/potential clients (Zoom Virtual Meetings Survey, 2021).
Video conferencing will continue to see rapid growth.
According to Yahoo! Finance (DataHorrizon Research, Oct. 2023, Video Conferencing Market To Reach USD 27.6 Billion By 2032 (yahoo.com), the market for video conferencing market will reach 27.6 Billion (USD) by 2032.
Time to get ready for the change – great lighting, background, and YOUR virtual presence will be the expected just like as business attire – suit/jacket, tie, etc. – that matches the company’s or client’s business culture.
